Building An Elevated Platform Bed – One problem with modern, clean-lined platform beds is that they sometimes sit too low. This can make it difficult to get into and out of the bed or cause the bedding to bunch up on the floor on either side. You can eliminate this problem by building an elevated platform bed; bring your bed up to a more traditional height. Set aside an afternoon for this project, which is within the reach of beginners and intermediate carpenter.
To build an elevated platform bed with place a 79-inch plank, and a 52-inch plank together at their edges in an L-shape. At the end of the short plank should rest on the face of the long plank. Attach the planks using two L-braces; ask each 2 inches from either side. Screw them in place using the supplied screws and a drill. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make a second L-shape with the help of residual long plank and one of the shorter planks. Arrange two Ls in a rectangular frame. Secure the corners with two L-braces each, tighten them as you did in step 2.

Insert a 52-inch plank inside the frame, parallel and equidistant from the 52-inch planks already in place to build elevated platform bed. Secure it with two L-braces at each end. Slide the remaining two planks inside the frame, one on each side of the central plank, and center them between the central and outer planks. Secure them with two L-braces at each end. Place the plywood on top of the frame. Secure it with a wood screw in each corner, which is operated through the plywood and into the plank underneath. Sand all external surfaces of the frame with rough sandpaper and sand off the faces of the planks using fine sandpaper. You can fine sandy plywood sheet if you want, but it will not be visible when you put the mattress in place.
